Vacation Memory Jars

I love to travel!  As soon as I return from one vacation, I am planning the next one.  I mostly do beach destinations and have always collected my beach treasures in jars.   I now do jars for any destination I travel to, including my home city of Chicago.

Things that are great to save for the jars:
  • Ticket stubs
  • Napkins or match boxes from restaurants
  • Little umbrellas from drinks
  • Pieces of nature (sand, shells, pine cones, leaves etc.)
  • key chains
  • Animal figurines and other little trinkets
  • Souvenir thimbles
  • Photographs
  • Currency from other countries
  • Postcards
I buy my jars at the craft store, but reusing plastic jars from food can work as well.  I label them by tying a tag around the jar.  If you go to a destination more than once, you can add to the same jar later.

Here are some examples (I didn't take pictures of all of them):

St. Maarten
Catalina Island, CA
Palm Springs, CA
Wisconsin
Indiana
 Chicago
My Midwest shelf.  I still need to make a Michigan one.
