Since I have been having a hard time emotionally lately, I figured now was a good time for this post. I don't normally do new year resolutions, but I have a couple this year. My first is my reading challenge of 65 books in 2012 and my second one is writing my bucket list (a list of things I want to do before I die). It forces me to do some soul searching and goal setting.
I got a free leather journal from Oprah's life class show. I am not much of a diary keeper, so I am using it for my bucket list.
Some things on my bucket list:
- Travel to: Australia, Italy, Greece, Aruba, Alaska, Germany, Myrtle Beach, Hawaii, Colorado, NYC, Pennsylvania, African Safari, San Francisco, Oregon coast, Canada, Florida Keys, Puerto Rico, Puerto Vallarta, Brazil, Belize, Bali, more Caribbean islands.....etc. etc. (we have a discount vacation package so we will be able to knock some of these off the list without spending a fortune)
- Things I'd like to do while visiting some of these places: Dive a shipwreck, dive with sharks, dive the Great Barrier Reef, cage dive with Great Whites, swim with wild dolphins (I swam with captive dolphins already), go whale watching (especially Orcas), take a donkey ride into the Grand Canyon, visit Yellowstone, see Niagara Falls, white water rafting, see northern lights, hold a monkey, hold a koala bear, Go para-sailing, tube down a river with friends.
- Concerts to see: Carrie Underwood, Tim McGraw, Toby Keith, Eminem...etc.
- Get married
- Become a resident of California
- Own a house
- Get phlebotomy certified
- Own a hybrid vehicle
- Own a horse or 2
- Take shooting lessons to become a better marksmen
- Learn to surf
- Own a motorcycle
- Experience living in a house boat
- Attend the Kentucky Derby
- Find a way to be happy with my body
Here is a quiz with some ideas: Bucket List Quiz

I'm pushing 48 and still not happy with my body. LOL.
ReplyDeleteIt's a great list, an ambitious list, and I hope you tick off most of them as you move forward.
For me, just getting through the days and staying reasonably sane is my goal. LOL. Well, that and knitting the 52 kitty blankets for my shelter donation project. :-)

hmmmm...I would say really LEARNING to play the piano, read at least 2 books a week, doing my taxes on time every year, volunteer at a shelter or foster cats, go vegan.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Kea, the body thing is a drag. I finally came to terms with mine this year...and I'm 49!

Hi! We found you through the Katnip Lounge kitties! : ) A bucket list is a great idea. I have many of the same wishes floating around in my head. I think my biggest personal item would be to get the book I'm working on published. My cat (who's blog I manage) would probably disagree. ; )
ReplyDeletenice to meet you,

Nice to meet you! Your cat is adorable. Publishing a book would be a huge accomplishment.
