I was introduced to shark tooth hunting when I was a kid. My great grandmother had a winter home in Sarasota, FL. We went there for spring break every year. She had a handmade sifting tool for finding the shark's teeth. We went to Venice Beach in FL, which is one of the most popular beaches to find sharks teeth (not to be confused with crazy Venice Beach in southern CA). Venice beach's website can tell you more about tooth hunting there. We spent hours upon hours, as a family, looking for teeth. We did find 100s of them! I still have a jar full. I am still in love with beach combing. I collect sand, shells, and sea glass from all over the world. I have a glass jar full for each beach I have been to.
I have a trip planned for Tampa Bay, FL next month. I just purchased a shell/shark tooth sifting tool to use on my trip. I am so excited to be able to shark tooth hunt again. The tool will travel with me from now on. I found the tool on this website.
Here are some pointers on shark tooth hunting. I will blog after my trip to let you know how the tool worked. Hopefully I will have found some treasures!
