Crayola Cherry Blossom Tree

I had a bunch of brown crayons that were discarded when I did the last Crayola project.  Instead of trashing them, I made this new project.

You will need:
  • A variety of brown crayons
  • A canvas
  • Glue gun
  • Hair dryer
  • Paint (oil or acrylic works)
  • Newspaper and/or tin foil
  • Tape
  • Q-tips
  1. Hot glue your crayons into the shape of a tree.  I also used some wooden pieces, that came with my canvas, to made a fence.
  2. Use newspaper and tape to block of areas that you do not want your crayons to drip on.
  3. Use newspaper or tinfoil to protect your work space from splatter.  I put my canvas on my kitchen counter and lean it against the wall.  I foil off both vertical and horizontal space.  The wax will fly in all directions!
  4. Flip the canvas upside down for melting.  This will cause the wax to drip upward from your tree, like branches.
  5. Use your hair dryer on low/hot setting.  Hold it close to your crayons to melt them.  Let your wax drip and turn your canvas to achieve the look you want.
  6. Let the wax harden on your canvas.
  7. Use some pink paint to create little cherry blossoms on your branches.  I used a Q-tip for this.  Dab 4 dots in a square and use a darker color dot in the middle to create the flower.
  8. Let the paint dry, then it is ready to hang.
